What a scanned tag shows

The gear gets inspected. Proving it is the hard part.

Most crews check their harnesses. What's missing is the record: a clipboard sheet in the truck, a spreadsheet nobody trusts, a tag that faded last summer. Then a general contractor's auditor, an insurer or an incident investigator asks for the history of one piece of gear, and nobody can find it.

And there's the question every safety manager wants answered on Monday morning: is anything in the field out of date right now?

Scan, check, done.

  1. 1

    Tag your gear.

Import the spreadsheet you already have. Your columns, not ours. Print QR labels on sheets and stick them on.

  2. 2

    Inspect with any phone.

Scan the tag with the phone's own camera. No app to install. Anyone who scans sees whether the gear is in date, and a competent person runs the checklist and signs it, right there.

  3. 3

    The record keeps itself.

Due dates move forward on their own. Failed gear is pulled from service the moment it fails, and you get an email. Every Monday you get one email saying what's overdue, what's due this week and what's been pulled.

Start with fall protection. Keep going.

Ready to go

Harnesses, lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, ropes, rope grabs, connectors, anchors, horizontal lifelines, rescue devices and ladders, each with its own built-in checklist to start from.

Scaffolds, guardrails and warning lines

Inspected every shift. The tag on the scaffold opens a page showing whether it's been inspected today.

Everything else you inspect

Fire extinguishers, gas detectors, slings and rigging, first aid kits. Add your own categories with your own checklists and intervals. When an outside company does the inspection, like an extinguisher's annual service or a detector's calibration, you record it from their paperwork, kept apart from your own inspections.

The audit pack: one click, and you prove you run a tight ship.

Pick a job and a date range. You get one PDF with the register, every inspection made at that job with who did it, when, how they signed and the checklist exactly as it was asked, and every retirement with a photo of the destroyed gear. There's a spreadsheet version too.

A pack code worked out from every record is printed on the cover, and a note of every pack you download is kept with its code, so any copy can be checked against the original.

It covers what was recorded at that job, even after the job has closed and the gear has moved on.

Or send the client a read-only link instead. It shows what's in date, lets them download the pack, and expires on its own after 7, 30 or 90 days.

Made for the job site.

  • Works without signal.

Inspections are saved on the phone and upload when signal comes back, with a count of what's still waiting.

  • English and Spanish.

Each person picks their language, including on the scan page.

  • Anyone can report a problem.

Every tag has a Report a problem button, and the report pulls the gear from service right away.

  • Retired means retired.

Retiring gear takes a photo of it cut up or destroyed, so it doesn't turn up on a truck six months later.

  • No rubber stamp.

There's no "mark all passed" button. Each item gets looked at.

Early access

Strawberry Safe is taking its first customers now. Early customers use it free while we build it with them, in exchange for honest feedback.

When pricing starts, it will be by how much gear you track, never by how many people use it, because every person on the crew should be able to scan.

Questions people ask

Do my crews need to install an app?

No. Any phone camera opens the tag. People who inspect sign in on the website, and they can add it to their home screen if they like.

What if there's no signal on site?

Inspections are saved on the phone and upload when it's back.

Will this get us through an OSHA inspection?

No software can promise that, and we won't pretend to. Strawberry Safe records what your competent person found, when and how they signed, so you can show it when you're asked.

Who can see our gear when someone scans a tag?

Anyone who scans sees what the gear is, whether it's in date, and the manufacturer's instructions. Not the serial number, not who has it, and not your company name unless you choose to show it.

Can I bring my spreadsheet?

Yes. Upload it and match its columns to ours. No template to retype into.

What about gear inspected by an outside company?

Record it from their paperwork, with a photo of it. It shows in the audit pack as their inspection, not yours.

Can I use my own checklists?

Yes. Change the built-in lists for any model, or write your own for any category.
